As of 1882, my great-grandfather was the first tenant of the hut. Then my grandfather, my father and now me. I'm the fourth generation. Nowadays, that's not frequent anymore. We have always had mountain climbing in our blood. And so it just came about. What did they tell you about your great-grandfather? I guess, you yourself didn't know him - Sadly, I didn't get to know him. I didn't know my grandfather either. He died when I was two years old, but I don't remember him. My father told us about our great-grandfather. In 1882 the first small hut was built. It had seven sleeping places and was a house made of stone. He carried sand from the glacier in a basket on his back to help build the house. In the beginning it was very basic, there were no machines.Everything was done by hand. That's what my father told me.
